Lactation Review Courses

Through our educational department, Lactation University, we provide high-quality, evidence-based lactation refresher courses. Please contact us if you would like to receive more information or to get your training on the calendar. All agendas can be adjusted to meet the needs of your staff and support your organization's goals. Match any half-day training if you prefer a entire day dedicated to breastfeeding/chestfeeding education.

Counseling Emphasis

Full Day Training
The following Agenda has been created for additional education and implementing the teachings learned in the traditional three day CAPPA CLE® Course or similar lactation training. This is not part of the required CAPPA training and is not associated with the CAPPA Organization. *Schedule is a guide for the facilitator and will be adjusted as needed

Breastfeeding journey
​Objectives
At the completion of the training, participants will be able to:
  • Demonstrate three ways to practice mindfulness
  • List three benefits to using a Circle Chart in counseling
  • Identify three conditions that must be referred to an IBCLC
  • Identify three conditions that must be referred to a Health Care Provider
  • Share talking points when educating a mom who has a newborn
  • Share talking points when educating a mom who has a three week old
  • Share talking points when educating a mom who has a six week old
  • Share talking points with a mom who continues to breastfeed beyond a year

Human Milk for Early Humans

Half Day Training (3.5 hours)
This agenda explains the unique benefits human milk provides for premature infants. We discuss special needs early babies have and how species-specific milk meets those needs. We also discus the emotions and care of families experiences caring for premature infants.

Adult learner principles and learning styles are considered in order to most effectively reach clients.  *Schedule is a guide for the facilitator and will be adjusted as needed.
